Last Friday, like every Friday, we ate out.\u00a0 Summer hours are over at work, so I got home something after 5PM.\u00a0 I ordered pizza within a half-hour or so after arriving.\u00a0 We ate at about 6:30.<\/p>\n
Apparently, that is too late.\u00a0 I’ll spare you the details, but it was too late, and I fucked up by waiting instead of ordering ahead.<\/p>\n
So, this week, I tried my damndest to get the dinner on time.\u00a0 But, lo!\u00a0 I had forgotten I had spoken with the children last night about dinner and I had, though I don’t remember this, settled on Chinese food.\u00a0 But what’s this I bring home?\u00a0 Quaker Steak and Lube. \u00a0 Chicken wings.<\/p>\n
“I hate chicken wings!”<\/p>\n
How did it come to this?\u00a0 What was I thinking?\u00a0 Well, they ate chicken wings from Great Northern a few weeks ago, so I thought they must have liked them, the mess of them, the fingers all sticky, whatever.<\/p>\n
Anyway, I fucked up.\u00a0 Again.\u00a0 I keep fucking up.\u00a0 Honestly, I don’t intend to be fucking up so much, but I fuck up nonetheless.<\/p>\n
Fuck.<\/p>\n
So, even though I did indeed try my damndest and got home at a respectable time, I still fucked up.<\/p>\n
I went out after I got home and got Chinese food.<\/p>\n
They didn’t eat it.<\/p>\n
Some exciting entry, huh?\u00a0 Quinn fucks up everyone’s night.\u00a0 Again.<\/p>\n
God-fucking-dammit.<\/p>\n
I’m sick of this — of trying to guess what everyone wants and being crucified when my gut is wrong.\u00a0 I’m trying — I’m really trying to be good, to do right, to get things in order.\u00a0 It’s not good enough.<\/p>\n
Fuck this.\u00a0 I wonder why anyone wants to be alive.\u00a0 It’s only a goddamned dinner, but it’s exemplary of so much more.\u00a0 I just can’t do a goddamned thing right, and the more I worry about doing it right, the worse it seems to come out.<\/p>\n
And why bother?\u00a0 Is there so much as a hug after doing well?\u00a0 A pat on the back?\u00a0 A firm handshake?\u00a0 A sudden look in the eye and an easy smile?\u00a0 OINK. OINK. OINK.<\/p>\n
