{"id":298,"date":"2012-04-03T15:33:22","date_gmt":"2012-04-03T19:33:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fazigu.org\/blog\/?p=298"},"modified":"2026-04-07T08:56:27","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T12:56:27","slug":"the-verdict","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fazigu.org\/blog\/2012\/04\/03\/the-verdict\/","title":{"rendered":"The Verdict"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Opposing counsel accused me of being an alcohol and marijuana abuser. \u00a0How did she come up with any marijuana abuse? \u00a0Apparently she\u00a0subpoenaed ECMC. \u00a0Can they do that? \u00a0Isn&#8217;t there some kind of doctor-client privilege? \u00a0Oh well. \u00a0In any case, I was presented in quite an unflattering way.<\/p>\n<p>So, I arrive at nine-twentysomething and the hearing finally commences at sometime after noon. \u00a0 All this after (a) having my fucking Droid lose its GPS connection, (b) driving around the\u00a0labyrinthine streets of downtown Buffalo for\u00a0far too long, (c) waiting in line at the security checkpoint for ten minutes, (d) finding the court part has been moved, (e) the absence of our law guardian (lawyer for the children) the first two times we were called, and (f) fuck Justice.<\/p>\n<p>Some very cute young ladies in the waiting room, though. \u00a0Gotta check Craigslist for any &#8220;missed connections.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So, we go in. \u00a0Petitioner&#8217;s attorney begins with a brush wet with malignant accusations. \u00a0I get my turn, and have no idea what to say, so I begin to refute her allegations.<\/p>\n<p>Long story shortened, I could not in good conscience consent to the petition, as it consists of harmless incidents inflated grossly into what could be construed as dangerous intentions. \u00a0Thus, the judge ordered what I presume to be the &#8220;fact finding hearing&#8221; in July.<\/p>\n<p>Another month separated from my daughters.<\/p>\n<p>Again: I do not know if my daughters even know I am alive, and every day gone by makes them wonder if I still care.<\/p>\n<p>I was, at least, respectful to the court.<\/p>\n<p>The judge provided an order for assignment of counsel. \u00a0 As I am (now) giving roughly half of my gross income to the exish, I cannot afford an attorney. \u00a0 However, on paper, I do not qualify to be assigned one.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, I continue <em>pro-se<\/em>, representing myself.<\/p>\n<p>I hope the exish realizes what she&#8217;s doing to her daughters. \u00a0She must. \u00a0She must know this. \u00a0She must know they miss me.<\/p>\n<p>They need me.<\/p>\n<p>I did sneak in an &#8220;inadvertent&#8221; reference to her as &#8220;Ms Haze&#8221; a la &#8220;Lolita.&#8221; \u00a0Maybe she got it.<\/p>\n<p>In any case, now I wait until July.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, if you find yourself in this manner of situation, and you can afford an attorney, by all means get one immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Me? \u00a0I&#8217;m stuck with telling the truth.<\/p>\n<p>And that doesn&#8217;t go over all that well with Lady Justice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Opposing counsel accused me of being an alcohol and marijuana abuser. \u00a0How did she come up with any marijuana abuse? \u00a0Apparently she\u00a0subpoenaed ECMC. \u00a0Can they do that? \u00a0Isn&#8217;t there some kind of doctor-client privilege? \u00a0Oh well. \u00a0In any case, I was presented in quite an unflattering way.
