Some people might do it faster or slower. But it took me about ten days to do so, when I first started, and I was moving at a pretty lazy pace. So yeah, my opinion, 10 days to be a Newbie. As far as I know, mini/maxing here is not against the rules, a new character can trade off what ever they want, boost what ever they want with their 100 pot points, as long as it is not blatant cheating cause you have a bit. Though, what a player has lost in atts when trading, they should rp as such. If you have no intellect or charisma, I don't want to see you discussing the creation of mankind, or acting like your shit don't stink. And now I have something to say. Since there is no more then 10 individual people playing here, I think we should be able to submit our tp line, sort of like Shadowrun Denver, create a story to run and be offered an NPC. This random creation of NPC's when nothing is happing outside a few players is silly. It should be a moo run plot hinted on Storylines where players can decide to participate or not. I think there are wonderful rp' types here, and given a chance they could enhance our fun with their imagination if given a chance. I don't know who would judge the submissions, but it is something to think about. On quite a few others, however, I do not. The ability to, essentially, request an NPC whose stats you are allowed to govern would be nothing short of chaotic. The damage to the balance of the game (such as it is) would be tremendous. Yes, I realize that there are stat-gods and pot-whores out there. I have one of them myself, in Daryan. But by-request NPCs are not the answer. Perhaps NPCs should be made available, as an option, for certain plots. But not for general play. That would, as I've stated already, be chaotic. That's one of the functions of the staff, to encourage roleplay by providing judicious assistance in the form of toys, objects, NPCs, etcetera. I would presume that whichever GM (if any) found the proposed plot intriguing would want to talk over the plot with whoever proposed it, and might impose certain restrictions (where the NPCs stats would be set, the right to monitor an $ahab to be sure it wasn't being abused, whatever) but I don't think that's unreasonable. While it's true that none of the active staff at the moment are the lets-run-a-plot-every-weekend sorts of Teks, facilitating RP and player-run plots has always been one of the inherent duties of Ghost staff. I love playing here, but it seems so stale at times. So I go off to Shadowrun, or Shang where I know I can find rp within 2 minutes. Maybe the one wiz (Moon) could offer a contest for the best submitted plot line, or something. Anything to get the juices flowing here again. It would be fun if there was one horrid evil that we could take down, something intriguing and long running. Just something to draw out players and offer them something to do besides hunting and spoofing. Or maybe I'm just talking out of my ass and something like that is already going on and I'm just not invited to play, you fuck heads! <----That was a silly for those of you who are humored impaired. If something really, really bad happened, a magnet to pull the evil players as well as the good together to save life as we know it on GW, well, I for one think that would be fun. You could prolly even fix it so nobody loses stats or weapons if that is the fear. And that's all, I'm sure I'm beating a dead horse and I don't want it to come back and bite my ass ;) But it is something to think about. p. -------------------------- Message 9994 from *Chat (#5391): Date: Sun Sep 25 15:50:24 2005 EDT From: Elevar (#37256) To: *Chat (#5391) Subject: RE: Player-Run Plots In the time I've been around on GW, I've been involved in a few plots. They were fun. It gave me something to do other then hang around and hunt/spoof. You know the drill, we all do. Things like the whole conflit in the mages awhile back. Then the whole thing with Sagi starting his group. Then the raising. It was fun. It brought people out of hiding to play. That was great. Thing is though. The moment the plot ends, people go back to lurking and hiding, never to be seen again. To actually get people out and about in RP would be hard. At best, witth the people here, you would be able to run a string of plots. Counting that I know for a fact we all have numerous alts no matter how much any of us here deny it. You have an alt. Maybe a hidden one, secret and unknown, but you have one. And you could involve it in a plot. Counting most of them sit around doing nothing. So the whole thing with 'My character does not fit into the plot!' does not apply. Make a new one. Use an old character. Ask someone for a character to use, hell, something. I'm not sure about the 'one evil' idea though. Unless that one evil is just out to conquer Yak's farm, people are going to go pyscho. Declaring evil intentions on GW is inviting people to love you at first. Then having a few people just go completely crazy on you and start killing on sight. This was a pointless thing and you just read it. I pity you. I really do not have any plot ideas at the moment other then the one I might be working on. And you cant know about that. There is no trust here anymore, don't subject yourself to being on the receiving end of unjustified hate. 3) $Ahab NPCs should be given out like water, what's the worst thing that can happen? As most beastmasters have shown us, you'll just use your $ahab for a quick two-bit plot and then leave it to idle in a tent where it can't even gain pot or @praise anybody. Essentially, that makes it more useless than half of the moo population (If you don't believe me, type @rp). 4) If you're gonna send anything to *requests, I highly recommend that you also send it to *ideas so that the rest of the lowly players can weigh in on your suggestion. But instead of having to code an @eject event to stop them, cause that is not really ic. There should be weapons we can set in our tent that kills them on entry and not be a PK cause of it. That's what they have on CS. For 15k in credits or so you can purchase a chain gun that sits on a tripod. The only thing here though, you don't really die, so the only threat is losing atts and skills.
